How to Measure "Daylight Opening"

Measure the visible glass width and height from the inside of the frame (where the screen will sit). Do not measure the old screen if it's bent or damaged.

Why use a calculator?

Most people make the mistake of measuring their old screen, which might already be bent or the wrong size. Or worse, they measure the opening and order that exact size—meaning the new screen won't fit into the track!

The Principle of Deduction: To get a screen into a window frame, it must be slightly smaller than the opening itself. This space is taken up by the mounting hardware (springs, plungers) that hold it in place.

  • 1/4" Deduction: The industry standard for plunger and spring systems.
  • Measure Twice: Always measure the width at the top, middle, and bottom. Use the smallest measurement.
