Powering Your Privacy Invisible

Smart film is amazing, but it needs power to work. The challenge with retrofitting switchable glass is hiding the wires. You don't want ugly cables dangling from your sleek glass partition. Installix provides specialized Smart Film Wiring and Power Supply setup. We bridge the gap between the glazier and the electrician, ensuring your smart film is powered safely, reliably, and invisibly.

The Wiring Challenge

Busbar Connections

Smart film is powered via copper busbars at the edge of the film. These connection points are delicate. If the solder breaks or the wire is pulled, the film stops working. We use specialized conductive tapes and strain-relief techniques to ensure a solid connection.

Concealment

On a frameless glass wall, where do the wires go? We use ultra-thin ribbon cables, clear adhesives, or route wires through U-channels and door headers to keep the installation looking wireless.

The Solution: Professional Integration

We supply the correct Transformers (Inverters) that convert standard 110V house power to the 48V-60V AC required by the film. We handle the low-voltage side of the installation, preparing the system for final hookup.

Why Choose Installix?

  • Door Solutions: We install armored door loops or spring-loaded contacts to get power to moving door panels.
  • Safety: We use properly rated transformers with overload protection to prevent film burnout.
  • Smart Home Ready: We can wire the transformer to smart plugs or relays compatible with Lutron, Crestron, or standard Wi-Fi switches.

Technical Specifications

Component Details
Transformer Input: 110V AC. Output: 48V/60V AC. Capacity: Rated based on sq. footage of film.
Wiring 18-22 AWG low voltage wire. Clear/flat wire available for glass runs.
Connections Silver paste and copper foil busbar termination sealed with non-acidic silicone.

Our Process: Hide and Seek

Step 1: Path Planning

Before installing film, we plan the wire route. We look for drop ceiling access or hollow door frames.

Step 2: Termination

We solder/crimp the connections to the film and test conductivity immediately.

Step 3: Covering

We cover the busbar connection with neutral cure silicone or matching trim to hide the "industrial" look of the connection.

Pricing Factors

  • Distance to Power: Long wire runs through finished walls/ceilings increase labor.
  • Door Hardware: Power transfer hinges or loops are additional hardware costs.
  • System Size: Multiple windows require larger/multiple transformers.

What Our Clients Say

"Tim came by to assess a bay window that had lost its seal. Instead of pushing a full replacement, he measured for just the glass. The internal grid match was exact. He saved us about $2,000 compared to the other quote."

Ihor Kovalchuk

Etobicoke

"We had a landscaping rock go right through our sliding patio door. Danyil arrived to board it up and measured immediately. He was meticulous about cleaning up the broken glass shards from our hardwood and the deck. The new tempered unit was installed a week later and looks perfect."

Oksana Boyko

North York

"We needed a large custom mirror for our home gym. The team handled the tight turn in our basement stairwell perfectly. The mirror is distortion-free and really opens up the room. Professional work."

Vasyl Melnyk

Mississauga

"Tim is a true craftsman. We have old wood casement windows that were foggy and drafty. He replaced the glass carefully without chipping the paint or damaging the stops. It's rare to find tradespeople who treat your home with this much respect."
