The Insulated Glass Unit (IGU) is the "engine" of your window. It consists of two or three panes of glass separated by a spacer and sealed to create an airtight, moisture-free space. Anatomy of a Unit

Spacer

The Sealant

A dual-seal system. Primary seal (Polyisobutylene) keeps gas in. Secondary seal (Structural silicone/Polysulfide) holds the unit together.
